I'm wondering if I could get some help on some Waller families in Ky? My James Waller is thought to be living in Monroe co., KY in 1850. In that, let me tell you my problem.
I have determined my James Waller to be from Sullivan co., TN. In 1850, I don't find him in Sullivan co., but I find a James Waller living with a James Arterburn in Monroe co. These two would be first cousins if I can prove this is my James Waller. Seems likely but still not proven.
Now, here is the problem. There is a James A. Waller about the same age who appears in 1870, 1880, and 1900 in Monroe co. who clearly is not my James Waller. So, what I need to do is to determine if this James A. Waller is the same one living with James Arterburn. If I can disprove this, then I'm confident that it is my James W. Waller. About all that I know about James A. Waller is that he was a Union soldier in the 9th Ky. Infantry.
I do know that there were two Waller sisters that married Copas men known to be living in Monroe co. Their mother Catherine Arterburn Waller is last found living with Elizabeth Copas in 1870. So I do know that these family members were there. Would you have any connections or suggestions as to how that I can prove this line? Thanks very much for your help. Jeff Barr

Thank you for your TN information. Some has helped me, but I am wondering why there is no early info on Hamilton Co., TN. Was this a county formed after 1850? I have in the 1860 Census the names of my ggg grandparents in Hamilton Co., TN, but cannot find anything earlier. I am wonder if perhaps HamiltonCo., might have been a part of another county prior to that time, and before 1860 it became an independent county.
