We don’t know exactly when, or from where, Thomas Waller came to Obion
County TN. He married Eliza Johnston in neighboring Gibson County on
November 15, 1843. In 1848 they had a son which they named Thomas Overton
Waller. Shortly before or after the birth of his son, Thomas Sr. died.
Family tradition has it he was killed while performing his duties as
deputy-sheriff.
Widow Eliza Johnston Waller married Jessee B. Morgan on January 17, 1850.
The couple with Eliza’s son Thomas, moved to nearby Puxico (Stoddard County)
Missouri.
Young Thomas Overton Waller lived his entire life in the Puxico Missouri
area with the exception of a brief stint in Arkansas. Thomas married twice.
First to Mary Canada in 1864 and later to Nancy Emmaline Caldwell. He went
on to become the founder of two large Waller families that are now
scattered throughout the United States.
Snow-Arnold Cemetery destroyed completely. It was located on property owned
by Bob White Holman. Directions to location on Mormon fiche #6049838. Fiche
