Dr. Thomas Waller was the son of John Waller (1732-1784) and Mary
Mathews. He
was a graduate of "William and Mary' and Nancy Whitman tells us;
"he studied
medicine with Dr. Benjamin Rush at the Philadelphia Medical School and then,
having gotten
his degree - married Elizabeth McFarlande and the couple went on horseback
into the Ohio
territory to Portsmouth, Ohio."
The parents of Thomas were from Stafford County, Virginia which means they
were of the
"Springhill" branch of the Waller family.
We have a Waller researcher interested in Scioto County. Her name
is Nancy
Whitman and she is a descendant of Mary Waller and Washington Kinney. Mary
(1802-1874) was
a daughter of Dr. Thomas.
