Thomas Overton Waller (1848-1920) came to Stoddard County as a child. He came with his widowed mother, Eliza (Johnston) Waller who as a second marriage, married Jesse B. Morgan.
It is believed Thomas O.Waller married twice. First to Mary Canada on Dec. 26, 1864 and second to Nancy Emmaline Caldwell (1860-1921). There is no record in Stoddard County of this second marriage, but Nancy is buried with Thomas in the Puxico Cemetery and she is mentioned, as wife of Thomas, in some real estate transactions.
There may have been a third woman in Thomas's life. One story has it that Thomas fathered a number of children born to a Cherokee woman living in Mingo Swamp.
