A source for information about James Waller is: "Waller bible owned by Captain James Waller of Hancock Cty GA " and in possession of the Humber family, Columbus GA. see Mormon microfilm # 0858655 item 2.

According to Charles S. Waller, LaGrange GA, James Waller was born in Md. but when the Mason-Dixon Line was drawn, the area became DE.

James was a soldier in the War of 1812, and is listed as such by the Daughters of County Regiment of Militia ( June 17, 1796; Executive Minutes, 1793-6, Page 722) and Captain of the 108th District Company (Hancock) Georgia Militia, December 3, 1804,( Military Commissions 1800- 1806, page 761.)

James's father-in-law, Elizabeths father, Levin Ellis, was a veteran of the Revolutionary War and received a grant of land in the Land Lottery Grants in 1827. see "Georgia's Roster of the Revolution, page 351."

Bought land on Nov. 15, 1790 in Greene Co. (Later Hancock CO.) on ridge between Shoulderbone Creek and Beaverdam Creek.
