Any Waller researchers wandering into Somerset County because he or she knows or suspects their roots are here, are very fortunate individuals.

Fortunate because you will become acquainted with the work of Charles S. Waller Sr. Charles is one of the leading Genealogists of our time, He has spent a great part of a long life tracing in minute detail the descendants of John Waller (c1625-1667).

John was the founding immigrant of a major Waller branch. Charles named this branch, "The Chesapeakers". Throughout this website we will use "Chesapeaker" to describe any of the thousands of descendants of John. Two other major branches receiving a lot of attention (and work) at present are the "Springhill" Wallers (Stafford Co, VA) and the "Endfield" Wallers (Spotsylvania Co, VA).

"The Chesapeakers" is also the name of a book written by Charles. If you are a Chesapeaker Waller you simply must buy this book. It is a handsome, black, hard-cover volume of 620 pages. Charles is a man of advanced years and has no plans for another printing. You can send $30.00 to him at 5830 Westpoint Road, LaGrange GA 30240. Better yet--- pick up the phone and call him at 706 884 7638.

The preceding is a first. I have never before recommended a purchase of anything. Any book on genealogy is certain to contain errors. Charles has stated he does not plan another printing. Please copy me on any corrections. Email Ali

John Waller, founding father of the "Chesapeaker" Wallers, and his wife Alce (Alice) Major had three children. William was the only son. There were two daughters, Major and Alice. This is really a small family for the time. We may learn of others but I doubt it. Charles Waller shows only three and he is the acknowledged authority.

Link to William Waller, only son of John and Alce Waller.

We have a Waller researcher interested in Somerset County. She is Kathryn Broussard, a descendant of Joseph W. Waller, (1745 - 1818).
